Nathan’s boss made him take a personlity test and I think they hit it spot on.

FYI… sound like me? ~Nathan

Achiever

Your Achiever theme helps explain your drive. Achiever describes a constant need for achievement. You feel as if every day starts at zero. By the end of the day you must achieve something tangible in order to feel good about yourself. And by “every day” you mean every single day—workdays, weekends, vacations. No matter how much you may feel you deserve a day of rest, if the day passes without some form of achievement, no matter how small, you will feel dissatisfied. You have an internal fire burning inside you. It pushes you to do more, to achieve more. After each accomplishment is reached, the fire dwindles for a moment, but very soon it rekindles itself, forcing you toward the next accomplishment. Your relentless need for achievement might not be logical. It might not even be focused. But it will always be with you. As an Achiever you must learn to live with this whisper of discontent. It does have its benefits. It brings you the energy you need to work long hours without burning out. It is the jolt you can always count on to get you started on new tasks, new challenges. It is the power supply that causes you to set the pace and define the levels of productivity for your work group. It is the theme that keeps you moving.

Competition

Competition is rooted in comparison. When you look at the world, you are instinctively aware of other people’s performance. Their performance is the ultimate yardstick. No matter how hard you tried, no matter how worthy your intentions, if you reached your goal but did not outperform your peers, the achievement feels hollow. Like all competitors, you need other people. You need to compare. If you can compare, you can compete, and if you can compete, you can win. And when you win, there is no feeling quite like it. You like measurement because it facilitates comparisons. You like other competitors because they invigorate you. You like contests because they must produce a winner. You particularly like contests where you know you have the inside track to be the winner. Although you are gracious to your fellow competitors and even stoic in defeat, you don’t compete for the fun of competing. You compete to win. Over time you will come to avoid contests where winning seems unlikely.

Responsibility

Your Responsibility theme forces you to take psychological ownership for anything you commit to, and whether large or small, you feel emotionally bound to follow it through to completion. Your good name depends on it. If for some reason you cannot deliver, you automatically start to look for ways to make it up to the other person. Apologies are not enough. Excuses and rationalizations are totally unacceptable. You will not quite be able to live with yourself until you have made restitution. This conscientiousness, this near obsession for doing things right, and your impeccable ethics, combine to create your reputation: utterly dependable. When assigning new responsibilities, people will look to you first because they know it will get done. When people come to you for help—and they soon will—you must be selective. Your willingness to volunteer may sometimes lead you to take on more than you should.

Analytical

Your Analytical theme challenges other people: “Prove it. Show me why what you are claiming is true.” In the face of this kind of questioning some will find that their brilliant theories wither and die. For you, this is precisely the point. You do not necessarily want to destroy other people’s ideas, but you do insist that their theories be sound. You see yourself as objective and dispassionate. You like data because they are value free. They have no agenda. Armed with these data, you search for patterns and connections. You want to understand how certain patterns affect one another. How do they combine? What is their outcome? Does this outcome fit with the theory being offered or the situation being confronted? These are your questions. You peel the layers back until, gradually, the root cause or causes are revealed. Others see you as logical and rigorous. Over time they will come to you in order to expose someone’s “wishful thinking” or “clumsy thinking” to your refining mind. It is hoped that your analysis is never delivered too harshly. Otherwise, others may avoid you when that “wishful thinking” is their own.

Intellection

You like to think. You like mental activity. You like exercising the “muscles” of your brain, stretching them in multiple directions. This need for mental activity may be focused; for example, you may be trying to solve a problem or develop an idea or understand another person’s feelings. The exact focus will depend on your other strengths. On the other hand, this mental activity may very well lack focus. The theme of Intellection does not dictate what you are thinking about; it simply describes that you like to think. You are the kind of person who enjoys your time alone because it is your time for musing and reflection. You are introspective. In a sense you are your own best companion, as you pose yourself questions and try out answers on yourself to see how they sound. This introspection may lead you to a slight sense of discontent as you compare what you are actually doing with all the thoughts and ideas that your mind conceives. Or this introspection may tend toward more pragmatic matters such as the events of the day or a conversation that you plan to have

This tour takes you all around the zoo and tells you about the animals and plants in the zoo. It was slightly long, but nice for us because we knew we would not be able to see all the animals.

We saw Polar Bears, California Condors, Meerkats, Brown Bears, and many, many more animals, and some beautiful plants from around the world.

We also got to see Koalas. Neither Aaron nor I had been there before so we were not sure what to expect. There were some long lines to wait in, which Ethan wasn't very excited about, so we tried to go on rides with only a 10 minute wait.
Aaron and Ethan went on a helicopter ride together and Ethan and I went on a boat ride.

Ethan loved steering the boat, and didn't want me to touch the steering wheel.

Landon was such a good baby while we were waiting in lines and riding on different rides.

We also saw a show in 3D about a lego racer. It was pretty cute and gave us some time out of the sun, and in some air conditioning.

On our way out we saw Darth Vader and R2D2 made out of Lego.

Lego Land is one of those theme parks that you feel like you have to do and see everything so If I lived in San Diego I would totally get a membership to Lego Land, and then we wouldn't have to be so rushed. It has a really fun water park, a regular play area for little kids made out of Lego, and a splash pad in the pirates cove. Oh and don't forget all the rides, and shows. We weren't able to go on some rides because of Ethan's broken collar bone, and the long lines but maybe next time.

I’m barely managing a monthly post but I am getting as much in as possible when I do. Here are highlights.

End of June was Lay family Reunion!! SOO fun, No major family Hiccups, just some good clean fun!!!

Sister MaryAnne wasn’t going to be able to make it to the family reunion. . .2 days before the event my wonderful husband Nathan used his sky miles for a ticket from Georgia to Salt Lake so she could drive out with us. (Birthday present for me ) at Round Table Pizza meeting room We Surprizingly Showed MaryAnne off!! …It was an Excellent Reunion, Molly and I teared up :.) All 7 Siblings and Mom & Dad were there!!!

1st of July Had a nice date day with Nathan. grandma Lay watched the kids while www went to see Twilight Eclipse, and went to the mall to get ZAGG skins put on the iPad and my 3G my touch phone at the mall, had my rings inspected and cleaned, shopped at Gymboree are at Sbarro shopped at charlotte russe, and topped it off with yog…urtstop for frozen yogurt with fresh raspberries on top. Made it back in time to tuck kids in bed.

2nd of July Sierra was in a parade for irish Dance. We have never gotten so much candy or toys and popsicles a t a parade as we did in that one!!! She had fun and we had piles of candy and frisbees to give to her at the end of the parade.

July 3rd (becasuse 4th fell on a sunday) Party we spent at Aarons and Alices, we did waterballoon sling shot fights, ( My fingers smelled like over 200 rubber waterballoons, too bad noone else in the house can tie them like I can!) and many attendees got all decorated in their glow stick attire. of couse we lit up the sky and had a blast. we have learned that Aunt Suzie is NOT allowed to play with fire.

The 5th of July Monday a neaby city had their parade, bouncy castls, a mini train, Nathan brought the kids to it. I was able to set up a cookie lee table and sold $700 and talked about 8 people into hosting shows. I have 5 booked and will be doing follow up calls this week.

I have been selling Cookie lee jewelry for 3 years and recently had my first few home shows where I GIVE AWAY. . .$50 pre selected COOKIE LEE JEWELRY to YOU and to each of your Attendees that arrive on time! I give away about 10 bags of jewelry at $50 Retail EACH at each SHOW. My Last Hoste…ss also earned $150 in free jewelry from her friends purchases!

July 7th Making Homemade Butter! with the kids, took about 1 hour. Prayer tonight, 3 year old Aurora wanted to say it, as she always does, when I usually help her she gets started by saying, “Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for our blessin’s,. . . what comes next?”, Then I help her along trying to get her think for herself. She was stumped in the middle and needed help and wispered to… me, “I don’t know the magic words.” We’re Crossing our fingers that our Magic Words work!

July 8th Aurora was diagnosed with Seasonal Allergies and an ear infection tonight along with needing steroids and inhaler for possible Asthma breathing issues. Uuugh and right before I leave with my husband for the first time for almost a Week! we are trying to use the 4 day medicine, and the nebulizer treatments aren’t completely necessary, but why now? this is the 5th ear infection in 9 months!

July 9th Aurora went to bed 1t 11:30PM was up for a few minutes at 6:30 but slept again until 9AM =) I’m loving medicine! She hasn’t slept throught the night in 8 or 9 months!

july 11 left for MICHIGAN Without our kids for a week! Left the kids in Grandmas tender care. No worries. Planning out my week in Michigan going to take tomorrow OFF! Then think of what to do next. Vacation!!! Aaaahhhhh!!!

July 12 Just went swimming. . .alone. . .so peaceful and relaxing No just sitting in the cool sunshine. . . Not a bit of stress or worry here. Great day! Considering taking a nap before Nathan gets out of business meetings. Then off to dinner and movie despicable me.

July 18th Kids are Swimmin in a new mini family size pool, They sure are having fun. I have a boutique going on today that I need to stop by. Couple Business items but maily staring out at the pool at my 4 precious kids. I missed them, life is already back to normal. breaking up fights, lots of noise, and great big hugs from all my kids! Life is GREAT!

July 19th Back to normal. Only today I pulled weeds My arms get all cut and itchy and I have to stop and shower before I can finish and I can’t weed in long sleeves it’s already too hot!

July 20 Chicken Enchalada Casserole 2 Can Cream Chicken Soup, 8 oz Sour Cream, 8-10 Flour Tortillas torn up 2″ pieces, 12 oz grated Cheese, 8 oz Chicken cooked and diced, 1 sm can Diced Green Chilies. mix it all together in a cake pan bake 350* 20 Min

Dear Scentsy Consultants!!! I am Looking for these Clearance items

Exotic Vanilla
Amaretto
Bubblegum
…Taj Mahal
Raspberry Danish
Grapefruit Berry
African Mahogany
Juicy Peach
Spiced Grapfruit
Banana Flower
Christmas Tree

I’m finding another hobby, trading Jewelry for Scentsy so I can sell it on eBay but I only want the rare scents so I can make more money off them and I have to buy them at clearance prices since they are older. Not that I need another evening hobby, i’m just addicted to selling. I should just start couponing again. you know if you have a fmily of 6 and each meal per person coests $1 3 times a day you would have to spend $558.00 We don’t have a budget that can accomodate that. let alone vacations or fast food! So I really should coupon again. Or stop buying jewelry so fast, replaceing it, let it sell out, buy some groceries and rebuild my stock slowly

July 21st DQ tonight and missed shows on TV with Nathan Banana Split for me, Buster Bar Blizzard for him. . .mmmmmmm.

July 22nd I see why my kids choose caramel dip for their chicken nuggets ar McDonalds. They have my sweet tooths!!! Those chicken nuggets suck! We Choose Caramel Dip. We always ordered apple dippers and the kids started dipping fries and nuggets in the caramel sauce, and the sundaes when we would get them, thats all the condiment my kids really like, no ketchup, no BBQ, no honey mustard, Slight ranch likers and some frysauce likers. So now we just order caramel sauce for our nuggets. the first time I tried it tasted like waffle cone, i know, wierd I was not expecting that, last time it was a Mc Ds nugget with caramel, just gross. not the caramel, the nugget.

We are at the park flying kites and climbing on rocks by the pond.

Come to the Pioneer day festivities and the Ogden farmers market. We got a bit of retail land to sell our goods on. There will Be Cookie lee Jewelry, loads of Fun parade 9AM and Fireworks 9PM SHOP ON BY! I loaned my Jewelry to a freind to sell it at the market, she has no kids, just a dog, so having her sell works out great and keep my jewelry moving. I took all the kids up by myself to walk the streets. there ware big horse statues all over the streets. I let them make scented bath crystals, and made coconut, cucumber-melon, raspberry handsoap for the kitchen at “making Scents” It was fun! hot and Aurora was nonstop! we never even did see a farmer. guess thye are on a different part of the street the kids and I did too much shopping. there was a lot to see and do there.

July 26th Aurora uses the word PEEK instead of KEEP. I don’t have the heart to change it cuz I love hearing it.

July 27th Bread Ice Cream?? Not what you think. My kids LOVE it though. 1 slice bread with jelly in the middle wrapped into a ball, another slice of bread, flattened than shaped like a cone. Make an ice cream cone out of it and eat. Why? Maybe because he is allergic to PB and he still gets his sandwich that way. Ask Hailey it was her creation.

Aug 4th just got a Tax statement for my little squeaky shoe business saying I owe the Utah Tax comission over $$$ 15,094.00 WHAT???? I have paid them the $29.00 in tax I have collected I think they totally screwed something UP!!! Guess I’ll be going to jail soon. Better get ready to help Nathan with the kids! That will …be the last time I get a tax id number for a little business.!

‎3 days away from home, Nathan had a Hell of a time with EVEYTHING Fridge freezer, garbage Disposal, kids, sprinkler parts and 1 to home depot $100 later would have been cheaper to pay the guys coming to lay the sod, and NOW HE IS OFF for 3 days and I am right I the middle of all of it. I woould love to clean the garag…e LOOKING TO GIVE AWAY 2 girls bikes aprox 5 yr old, 7 year old sizes FREE, Now the vaccume need a new belt and we are OUT of them, one thing after another.

Nathan and I have been teaching our sunday school classes in Primary he has the 7 year old I have the 4 year olds. We get every other week with the lesson and its good to have his help with lesson plans. Last week I made playdough for our lession about the 5 loaves of bread and 3 fishes and how Jesus blessed it and a miracle happened. So my playdough was an orangy color and I shaped it like brad dough. I was actually able to fool Nathan with my 2 loaves on for his calss and one for mine. then I told him. and we took them to church. He started cutting his bread (playdough) and handed some to a girl in his clas s(Iris~who thinks Nathan is a wonderful teacher) He figured they knew by the way it cut and felt that it was playdough. . .she took a bite of it, her face went sour and she asked if she could spit it out! tee hee. My class just had fun making pretzels and bread loaves and snakes and sharing them.

My Girls 11,9 are reading an UsBorne book Series called Conspiracy, They are ADDICTED to it it comes out 1 month at a time started in January and they cannot wait until the next book comes out and beg me for it the entire time. I will have to use books you reccomedt to fill in the spaces.

I love that they love reading, I don’t think I ever read a book as a kid, unless I was forced as a school report to do it. I have to drive to the UsBorne book Ladys house 30 min away the minute a new book comes in! they are so cute. also If you didn’t notice, Sierra has LONG hair in some pictures and short in others. Whne Grandma Stout had them for a week they got to make a fun trip to Cookie Cutters and get haircuts, something Grandma S loves to do for her grandkids. She spoiled them with love, toys and great food too! they were well cared for. Aurora sure kept her busy as she does everyone around her huh? and Hailey I guess was the one that had the biggest meltdown, the problems came after, sierra had lack of sleep and would get into her moody tantrums, Hailey and Sierra are hitting the fighting all the time sibling stage which i can’t stand! and don’t know how to control but will try what i did when they were 4 and 5 years old. the ‘Sisterly Love” statue. Cus your sister is the 1 freind that will ALAYWS be with you when freinds come and go, it’s your sister you need to treat the best. So we chatted a little tonight. School starts in 2 days and I may miss my windows of learning oppurtunity.

Responsibility Chart

Hailey and Sierra have chores each week

Table/Counter clear and wipe

Outdoor shores

Brush Teeth

Laundry – at least once a week to help keep their room clean(which I spent 4 hours sorting one night and still never sorted any clothes just dammage control for 3 MO AWOL MOM. I turend the duties to them cuz you can shut a bedroom door, and the aftermath was horrible, but now they are trying harder to keep it celan.

Getting dressed and ready by a certian time.

Keeping their bathroom clean

they have to do each chore each day unless noted they initial when they have done it on the dry erase board, if they get and X they do not get paid.

We start the finish of the week with the amount of allowance they woldl get paid if everything was perfect, $2 per year per week. we start at say $22 for Hailey we take off $1 for each X the first week, they built up their $20 Escrow account in case the did so bad it went into it. Well, they only did that once and they are never perfect, but it seems to be working we have been doing it for about 3 months now. I think the most we paid was $15 and $18 it more down near the $5 a week mark. and they love to buy my jewelry with it which makes the deal that much sweeter this week they are each getting $4
